Ahead of Germany’s clash with Northern Ireland, Julian Nagelsmann discussed the team’s emotional balance, tactical preparation, and the influence of Bayern players within the national squad.

“We must create the emotions ourselves”

Speaking about the mindset of his players, Nagelsmann emphasized the need for internal drive and collective energy to deliver a strong performance.

“The whole group has to ensure that. If we do it right, we'll have enough emotions to be well prepared. Emotions come from the stands. But we as a team can also ensure that on the pitch.” — Julian Nagelsmann

On Northern Ireland’s playing style

Nagelsmann acknowledged that Northern Ireland are a difficult opponent who rely on physical duels, long balls, and quick transitions.

“Northern Ireland are very compact in the middle. They play a lot of long balls. They also used counter-pressing moves with a lot of players against Slovakia. They're doing that well. We'll try to impose our style of play.” — Nagelsmann

Bayern’s presence in the squad

The Germany coach noted the importance of the strong Bayern core while also recognizing the contribution of Dortmund and other clubs.

“This Bayern block is important. But so is the Dortmund block. For us, all teams that have many German players are important. Bayern are doing very well and have good confidence at the moment.” — Nagelsmann

Schlotterbeck responds to Bayern interest

When asked about reports linking him to Bayern, defender Nico Schlotterbeck remained tight-lipped.

“I can’t say anything about that.” — Nico Schlotterbeck

On lineup and expectations

Nagelsmann confirmed that the lineup is nearly finalized with only one position undecided, hinting that few changes are expected. He also predicted a difficult encounter.

“I expect a tough opponent. It wasn’t easy to beat them in the first leg. They play many long balls; you have to fight for every second and third ball. It won’t be easy. We have to perform very well to win.” — Julian Nagelsmann
