Serge Gnabry’s absence from Bayern’s top-of-the-table clash with Borussia Dortmund caused concern, but early reports indicate his adductor problem is not serious and that he could return to action soon.

Minor setback for Gnabry

According to BILD, the 30-year-old winger began feeling discomfort in his adductor during Friday’s final training session and was left out of the Dortmund match as a precaution. Bayern’s medical team has since confirmed that no structural damage occurred.

“In the final training session on Friday, he felt something in his adductors, a slight pain. Nothing torn, nothing dramatic. It’s not that bad. He should be available again relatively soon.” — Max Eberl

Kompany and Gnabry provide reassurance

Head coach Vincent Kompany also downplayed the issue before kickoff, explaining that the decision to rest Gnabry was purely precautionary. “Serge felt something in his adductors. It’s not that bad. The match came too soon,” Kompany said.

After the game, Gnabry himself expressed confidence about his recovery, replying with a grin when asked about his fitness: “Good.”

Possible return against Club Bruges

Bayern are hopeful that Gnabry could make his return in the upcoming Champions League fixture against Club Bruges on Wednesday. His absence against Dortmund was felt, but Harry Kane’s deeper role and tactical flexibility filled the gap effectively.

Positive outlook

Having rediscovered form in recent weeks, Gnabry’s quick recovery will be crucial as Bayern continue their domestic and European campaigns. The winger’s return will add both creativity and balance to Kompany’s attacking options.
